We had breakfast with a friend of ours yesterday, Matt Wade, who is the South Asian correspondent for The Age and the Sydney Morning Herald. He’s just had a story published based on his recent trip to Bangladesh, and particularly to the island of Bhola – in the country’s South – looking at the impacts of climate change there. Audio-visual related to Matt’s story is available here.
His story, Bangladesh’s global warming, highlights the plight and adaptive efforts of the poorest in Bangladesh, and organisations working with them, to respond to increased flooding, storm surges, erosion, and extreme weather events. It’s a great introduction to the issues facing Bangladesh, through the experience of people directly affected.
Which is exactly the story that I was exploring in July in Bangladesh, shooting a video for TEAR Australia. Matt even went to Murat Sabullah, one of the villages I visited on the island of Bhola. Because I didn’t have an internet connection for the whole time I was in Bangladesh, and for most of the time I was in India, I didn’t post about my time there on the blog. And when I got back to Australia I was swamped with follow up work for the video, and preparation to finish my role there and come to Nepal.
The video has now been released. I haven’t seen the finished product so can’t really say much about it, except that I thought the script was tough and taut, I enjoyed working with AJ, Susan and Sally on its production, and I know the presenter pretty well.
You can purchase it at a discount with something from TEAR’s really useful gift catalogue. Or you can find out more about it and download related resources here. I have some more stories from my time in Bangladesh that didn’t make it into the dvd, so I’ll follow up shortly with some posts. Climate change is also clearly a big issue facing Nepal, and more on that too.

Hello,
I did not write much on the subject of climax change on my last, blog post. It is my interest to learn what your viewpoints are regarding what I shared on this matter. Could you let us know? My blog is here: http://www.cxpectations.blogspot.com
You may also visit my other blog, Curtis On The News if you wish. A couple of months ago I wrote on the subject of pollution. On both blogs there are articles and images about pollution and climax change. There are two images of Bangladesh involving shipbreaking with the dangers of pollution. I thank you for your time, attention & expressions.
Regards,
Curtis

[...] Matt came up to Nepal to report further on the tragic crash of a Yeti Air flight at Lukla which killed 18 people. While he was here, he also filed a story on some aspects of the relationship between politics and religion in Nepal. While ostensibly now a secular republic (having previously been a Hindu Kingdom), Nepal is deeply shaped by its religious cultures, particularly Hinduism. [...]
